My name is John Vogt and I was in foster care for approximately 10 years.
During that time I saw and experienced a lot.
I adopted or assumed legal guardianship over several of my foster kids and have adopted three other kids.
I love to mentor young people. Just wish they would listen to me!
I moved out of my parents house and went to Alaska to go to UAA because it was cheap and a friend suggested it. It probably was smarter at the time to stay with my parents in Idaho but I wanted to move out and be on my own.
When I arrived in Anchorage I was broke. I immediately got a job at Taco Bell and worked there throughout my first two college years.
The rest is history. I had to learn the hard way about a lot of things. Hopefully if you read my blog you will not have to.
